New Constitution of the Cambridge Union

A new draft of the Constitution of the Cambridge Union Society was approved by Trustees on Tuesday, 29th April 2014. It is due to come into force after the end of the Easter 2014 term.

Easter 2014 Elections

Easter term elections will be held on Monday 16th June. Polls will open at 9am and close at 6pm. If you are a Union member, you can vote online or in person at the Union during this time.

Cath Kidston Speaks at the Cambridge Union

On Wednesday 11th June the Cambridge Union Society welcomed entrepreneur, businesswoman and fashion designer Cath Kidston to discuss the secrets of success of her quintessentially British brand.

Having celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Cath Kidston brand last year, Cath was in a strong position to discuss both the history and the future of the brand, reflecting on how much has changed since she opened her first Notting Hill store in the early 1990s.

Sylvester McCoy at The Cambridge Union Society

Sylvester McCoy in conversation with Ted Loveday (Speakers Officer Easter 2014), Sunday 4th May 2014.

Sylvester is an actor perhaps best known for playing the seventh incarnation of the Doctor, the last in the original run of Doctor Who. More recently, he played the inimitable wizard Radagast the Brown in The Hobbit. He began his career as a comic act and busker for children's television.

Exam Period at the Cambridge Union

As is usual during exam period, whilst the Union will be open for those wanting to use its facilities during the day, there will be no debates, speaker events or weekly ents until the week of the 9th June. The 1815 Bar and Cafe and Union Library will be open as usual, but the Union will be closed in the evenings during the week.
