The Cambridge Union
This debate is so important it was chosen by the Union membership. The Acts of Union have binded this United Kingdom together for over three hundred years. Hadrian’s Wall no longer serves as a barrier to the shared political, historical and cultural heritage of this island. Yet in recent decades an independent Scotland has become more likely than ever.
Nicola Sturgeon’s Scottish National Party dominates Holyrood and a proposed unilateral second referendum was only stopped by the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. So we must ask ourselves, are we better together or does the Scottish lion roar for independence?
