Cancellation Policy

Termination of Membership

Any member may resign their membership by communicating an intention to do so in writing to the Vice President. The resignation shall occur at the time of the receipt of that communication by the Vice President.

A person shall cease to be a member of the Union if he or she is expelled from the Union. Such a person may not apply for membership of the Union again.

Refunds

The Union is unable to give refunds for membership under any circumstances.

Refunds may be available for specific events if there is a ticket cost. The terms of these refunds will be sent out in the individual policy of the event in question. Any refund policy is at the discretion of the Standing Committee.

Terms and conditions of use

Introduction

These terms and conditions apply between you, the User of this Website (including any sub-domains, unless expressly excluded by their own terms and conditions), and The Cambridge Union, the owner and operator of this Website. Please read these terms and conditions carefully, as they affect your legal rights. Your agreement to comply with and be bound by these terms and conditions is deemed to occur upon your first use of the Website. If you do not agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, you should stop using the Website immediately.

In these terms and conditions, User or Users means any third party that accesses the Website and is not either (i) employed by The Cambridge Union and acting in the course of their employment or (ii) engaged as a consultant or otherwise providing services to The Cambridge Union and accessing the Website in connection with the provision of such services.

You must be at least 18 years of age to use this Website. By using the Website and agreeing to these terms and conditions, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years of age.

By using cus.org you agree to be legally bound by these terms, which shall take effect immediately on your first use of cus.org. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all the following terms please do not access and/or use cus.org.

 1. All Content included on the Website, unless uploaded by Users, is the property of The Cambridge Union, our affiliates or other relevant third parties. In these terms and conditions, Content means any text, graphics, images, audio, video, software, data compilations, page layout, underlying code and software and any other form of information capable of being stored in a computer that appears on or forms part of this Website, including any such content uploaded by Users. By continuing to use the Website you acknowledge that such Content is protected by copyright, trademarks, database rights and other intellectual property rights. Nothing on this site shall be construed as granting, by implication, estoppel, or otherwise, any license or right to use any trademark, logo or service mark displayed on the site without the owner’s prior written permission

 2. You may, for your own personal, non-commercial use only, do the following:

 a. retrieve, display and view the Content on a computer screen

 b. print one copy of the Content

Registration

 5. You must ensure that the details provided by you on registration or at any time are correct and complete. We allow you access to the registration areas of the site on the basis that:

 (a) your email address and password are personal to you and may not be used by anyone else to access cus.org;

 (b) you will not do anything, which would assist anyone who is not a registered user to gain access to any registration area of cus.org;

 (c) you do not maliciously create additional registration accounts for the purpose of abusing the functionality of the site, or other users; nor do you seek to pass yourself off as another user.

(b) limit or exclude our or your liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or

 27. These terms and conditions will be governed by and interpreted according to English law. All disputes arising under these terms and conditions will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

If any of these terms are determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable by reason of the laws of any state or country in which these terms are intended to be effective, then to the extent and within the jurisdiction in which that term is illegal, invalid or unenforceable, it shall be severed and deleted from these terms and the remaining terms shall survive, remain in full force and effect and continue to be binding and enforceable.

29. These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Contributions to cus.org

 30. Where you are invited to submit any contribution to cus.org (including any listings, text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) you agree, by submitting your contribution, to grant cus.org a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sub-licenseable right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, play, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to your contribution worldwide and/or to incorporate your contribution in other works in any media now known or later developed for the full term of any rights that may exist in your contribution, and in accordance with privacy restrictions set out in the cus.org Privacy Policy. We may also remove your contribution at any time at our strict discretion. If you do not want to grant to cus.org the rights set out above, please do not submit your contribution to cus.org.

31. By submitting your contribution to cus.org, you:

 (a) warrant that your contribution is your own original work and that you have the right to make it available to cus.org for all the purposes specified above;

 (b) is not defamatory; and

 (c) does not infringe any law; and

 (d) indemnify cus.org against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by cus.org as a result of your breach of the above warranty; and

 (e) waive any moral rights in your contribution for the purposes of its submission to and publication on cus.org and the purposes specified above.

Advertising

 32. You may see advertising material submitted by third parties on cus.org. Individual advertisers are solely responsible for the content of advertising material that they submit to us, including ensuring that it complies with relevant legislation. cus.org accepts no responsibility for the content of advertising material, including, without limitation, any error, omission or inaccuracy therein.
