The Orator
Shaped by the icons who have raised a glass here, The Orator is as unique as the history that inspires it
The word orator (/o-rah-tor/) derives from the Latin orare, meaning to speak or to pray. It celebrates the legacy of The Orator’s home and the historic bastion of free speech, The Cambridge Union, where distinguished guests, from Winston Churchill and the Dalai Lama to Stephen Hawking, have famously taken the stage to practice the art of oratory.
Welcome to The Orator; the home of spirited dining, drinking and debate.
The Orator carries a legacy of hospitality in the heart of Cambridge. For over 210 years the Cambridge Union Society has provided hospitality to it’s members and distinguished guests, and now its doors are
open to everyone to dine, drink and join the debate.

Vegan and Vegetarian options were minimal (only one Vegan main).Vegan and Vegetarian options were on a seperate foor allergens menu. The jackfruit burger was bland and lacked imagination . For the price if it hadnt been for the staff and ambiance it would have been a disapointing experience .The wine was a disapointment for the 34 pounds we paid for a bottle it felt like 5 pounds worth Haren ArulananthamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great evening catch-up with friends. Our waitress, Natalia, was very knowledgeable about the food and wine and her recommendation were very good. Great service. Definitely underrated place in Cambridge. Yanin KnightTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A very nice venue for drinks and dining in the heart of Cambridge. The staff were friendly and welcoming, although not quite as attentive as I would have expected — something that could certainly be improved. I really liked their cocktail promotions and weekday deals, and I’ll definitely be back to try more of them. Katarina IlicTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
