Eighty-five years on from VE Day, an occasion famously remembered for Winston Churchill’s Buckingham Palace balcony appearance with King George VI, we find ourselves debating the future of the monarchy in 21st Century Britain. Given its deep roots in British and global society, we aim to consider both the role of the monarchy as an institution alongside its place in shaping national identity.
