Equalities Panel: The Future of Reproductive Technologies

Tuesday 13th May

6.00pm

The Cambridge Union

In February, the UK’s first birth following a womb transplant made medical history. Meanwhile, the number of surrogates in the UK has risen by over 75% in the past decade, and more than 50,000 patients underwent IVF in 2022 alone. As reproductive technologies continue to evolve at an unprecedented pace, they prompt increasingly urgent questions about ethics, autonomy, and inequality. This panel brings together voices from different fields to
unpack how these developments are reshaping the future of parenthood and reproductive freedom.

Panelists:
Teresa Baron
Sarah Jones
Cathy Herbrand
