Christopher Williams is one of the Caribbean’s most influential financial leaders, widely regarded for his role in transforming the region’s investment landscape. He is the co-founder and former CEO of PROVEN Group Limited, a pioneering Caribbean private equity and financial services firm headquartered in Kingston, Jamaica.
Initially, he made his mark as the CEO of NCB Capital Markets, transforming it into the Caribbean Wealth Management market leader. Under his stewardship, PROVEN evolved from a startup into an enterprise managing assets in excess of US$3 Billion – in a diversified portfolio across banking, wealth management, microfinance, real estate, and venture capital. The firm holds controlling stakes in institutions across the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and the Cayman Islands—where its acquisition of Fidelity Bank in 2022 marked its entrance into the international banking sector. The newly rebranded PROVEN Bank (Cayman) now serves both domestic and offshore clients under a Category A banking license.
PROVEN is listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange and has been lauded for consistent shareholder returns, transparent governance, and a disciplined, pan-Caribbean investment strategy. As the founding Chairman of the Caribbean Alternative Investments Association, his mission is to foster venture capital and private equity growth across the region. Williams is also Chairman of Professional Football Jamaica Limited (PFJL), proprietor of the Jamaica Premier League. Williams is recognized not only for his financial achievements but for fostering entrepreneurship and innovation across the region. He was handpicked as Chairman of Sir Richard Branson’s Centre of Entrepreneurship – Caribbean. He’s also a noted philanthropist, having championed causes in education and disability rights.
Williams was educated at Jamaica College, the University of the West Indies, and York University (Toronto). In 2024, Williams was honoured in New York with the Lowell F. Hawthorne Business Leadership Award for his work connecting the Jamaican diaspora with high-quality investment opportunities. Now leading Spark FDI, his new venture focused on catalysing foreign direct investment into Jamaica, Christopher Williams continues to shape the region’s economic future.
